Gravel Meeting 24 Jun 2026
Attending: AHDA (Vanessa, Jenny, Chris) LBR Regeneration Manager (Peter Target), Brett (Simon Tracey & secretary), LBR Estates Engineer (Barnabas Sawe), Cllr Lebo Phakoe.
- Fly tipping in Hainault Road has been cleared
- Hedge bordering St Peter’s Close and Footpath 93. Cllr Phakoe contacted the management company of St Peters Close due to gaps in the hedge, where people clearly have forced a way through. She has sought a meeting on site with them – no feedback as yet.
- The grass will be cut in the next couple of weeks and the finger post for Footpath 93 will be ordered.
- Development works: no extraction operation in Area E until September 2026, as there’s sufficient gravel at the hopper site.
- Phase 3 will begin in August 2026, and that will be midway through Area E – this is taking off the topsoil.
Demand is low as there is a construction recession, there is a depressed market - There has been no infill at Area E, again because of a depressed market
LBR said that they are liaising with Bretts regarding the new footpath along Aldborough Rd North and the restoration of the Barkingside to Fairlop part of Fairlop Waters will start next month, and that includes the Painters Lane entrance – and the path going to the Equestrian Centre, who have agreed for a small area of their land being used.
There was discussion on replacing the wooden bollards now or wait until the widening takes place and have concrete ones. - Planning: Ecological assessment of whether the hedgerow on Aldborough Road North is protected or not. Permission will be to widen the footpath along the road and these works will be done first before the gravel works begin in that area. Footpath 94 won’t be closed until works on widening the road footpath have been done.
- Security: There have been trespassers in Area F near the Lagoon, and this is a security issue which has been raised with Vision/Fairlop Waters as they are gaining access via there.
Phase 2 of the Masterplan is due to go to Cabinet for approval - Seven Kings Water: There is a partnership agreement with the Mayor of London’s office to restore Seven Kings Water and Area E in line with Masterplan. LBR is entering into partnership with the London Wildlife Trust.
- Aldborough Hall Nature Reserve: We are awaiting the signs stating NO BBQ’s, Fires, Litter and clean up after your Dog. signs telling people to stick to the paths inside the Nature Reserve and stick to Observation points.
